Your start and destination stay hidden
The family link doesn’t show the area around the route start, the destination or your first location of the ride, and the route line is cut there too. The tracking page doesn’t reveal where you live.
Clump is a motorcycle navigation app for riders who ride together. It gives turn-by-turn voice navigation, shows your whole group on a live map and lets everyone talk on a shared voice channel through their helmet intercom.
What is Clump?
Clump is a motorcycle navigation app that brings motorcycle navigation and group riding together in one app. You plan the route stop by stop; when the ride starts, the plan turns into turn-by-turn voice navigation and every rider appears on the same map. You can see at a glance who is ahead and who is behind, and you get an alert when someone falls back.
Anyone who rides in a group knows the problems. A few miles in, the group stretches out, someone at the back takes the wrong exit, nobody knows when the break ends, and family at home keep calling to ask where you are. As a motorcycle GPS app, Clump shows the way; as a motorcycle group ride app, it keeps the group together.
Riders talk to each other on the group’s voice channel through their helmet intercoms, whatever brand they use. Your family can follow your ride live in a browser without installing anything. Group breaks, Captain and Sweep roles, SOS, road reports and CarPlay support are all part of the same app.
Clump is made for iPhone, with Android coming soon. Below you’ll find what each feature does, how it works and when it helps. The link at the end of each section goes to a page that covers the same topic step by step.
Live group map
Once the ride starts, every rider shows on the map with their photo and name. Live location sharing covers the whole group, so you see where everyone is, who is connected and how far ahead of or behind you each rider is.
Pull up the panel to open the rider list. It shows each rider’s distance from you, for example "1.2 km ahead". A green ring lights up around the speaking rider’s pin, so you can also tell from the map who is talking on the voice channel.
A motorcycle navigation app should show more than the road; it should show where your group is. Motorcycle group riding means keeping track of how spread out the group is. Clump does that for you: live location sharing turns it into a convoy tracker that works out the distance between the front and the back of the group at every moment.
The spread strip lines the convoy up along the route on a single bar, with the Captain at the front and the Sweep at the back. You can see how stretched out the group is from that one bar, without studying the map.
When the gap between the front rider and the last rider passes a set threshold, a "someone fell behind" alert goes out. The threshold is 3 km by default and can be set from 0.5 km to 20 km when you plan the route. The alert goes to the Captain and the Sweep, or to the ride owner if there is no Captain. A separate alert tells you when a rider loses connection.
Ride planner
In the ride planner you pick a start, stops along the way and a destination. Give each stop a type and a dwell time, and the planner works out when you will reach every stop from your departure time.
Stop types are meeting point, fuel, break, food, regroup and viewpoint. Add stops on the map, by search, or by tapping the fuel, café, food, viewpoint and motorcycle service suggestions that appear along the route. The saved plan becomes the motorcycle navigation app’s turn-by-turn directions as soon as the ride starts.
If more than one route is found, the alternatives show on the map in different colors and you pick the one you want. Once saved, everyone in the group sees the same stops and the same times and follows the same motorcycle navigation. Every ride has a 6-character join code and a QR code.
Fast picks the quickest route. Balanced chooses among routes that take at most 15 percent longer than the fastest one. Curvy favors the twistiest of the routes found. You can avoid toll roads and motorways, each with its own switch.
A group moves more slowly than a solo rider. Relaxed pace multiplies the map’s travel time by 1.30 and Normal by 1.15, while Fast uses it as it is, so arrival times reflect how fast a group really moves.
Enter your group’s shortest range; the default is 180 km. If a section without a fuel stop is longer than 0.9 times that range, you get a warning. A break reminder also flags stretches longer than 90, 120 or 150 minutes without a stop.
The plan shows the weather along the route. During the ride, if rain is likely on the next half hour of the route, you get an alert: "Put on rain gear at the next stop."
Voice channel, quick messages and SOS
When you join a ride you connect to the group’s voice channel. Clump works as a phone-based intercom: as long as your intercom or headphones are paired with your phone, the brand doesn’t matter, and audio goes through the phone over mobile data.
There’s no need to pair riders one by one. Each rider’s intercom only connects to their own phone, and everyone who joins the ride is on the same channel. Riders with different intercom brands can talk to each other, and rider voice chat keeps going across miles of spread as long as there is mobile data.
Because the voice channel is built into the motorcycle navigation app, you don’t need to switch to a separate chat app. The voice channel behaves like a phone call and shows on the Lock Screen. A green ring lights up around the speaking rider’s pin on the map.
In large groups, push to talk keeps the channel calm: your voice only goes out while you hold the button. In small groups an open mic feels like a normal conversation, and you mute whenever you like. You can also have your mic switch off automatically during breaks.
If talking is hard, send a ready-made quick message with one tap: Need fuel, Break, Wait, Follow me or Hazard. Mark hazards such as an accident, roadworks, a pothole or a dangerous bend as road reports to warn the riders behind you.
In an emergency, tap SOS and a 3-second countdown starts. Then your location goes to everyone in the group as a high-priority notification and a spoken announcement, and family with your tracking link open see a red alert.
Captain and Sweep
Assign the road captain and sweep rider roles during the ride. A role only changes hands once the other rider accepts, and the Captain and the Sweep carry badges on the map and the spread strip.
The Captain rides at the front, sets the pace, and the group’s spread is measured from them. The sweep rider stays at the back and sees on their own screen how far back the last rider is. When someone drops back, the Sweep hears something like "Mehmet is 2.4 kilometers behind you."
If the ride owner loses connection for 3 minutes, ride authority passes temporarily to an online Captain, or to the Sweep if there is no Captain. The stand-in can skip stops, start a break and finish the ride. Authority returns to the owner as soon as they reconnect.
Riding in a staggered formation within one lane is a common rule for groups. Leave at least 2 seconds to the rider directly ahead and 1 second to the rider beside you in the stagger, and switch to single file on bends and rough roads. The Captain rides at the pace of the newest rider.
Group break
Whoever has ride authority taps "Start a break" and picks a length. Everyone sees the same departure time and countdown on the phone, the Lock Screen and CarPlay.
When a break starts, motorcycle navigation pauses and the countdown begins. Break presets are 10, 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes, and a break can last from 5 minutes to 4 hours. Everyone gets a reminder 5 minutes before departure, and a "Time to go" announcement plays when the time is up. The person in charge can extend the break by 5 or 15 minutes or end it early.
If the route plan has a break stop, the break starts on its own once most of the group arrives, and can be cancelled in the first 20 seconds. At an unplanned stop the app never starts a break by itself; after 5 minutes the person in charge only gets a "Take a break?" suggestion.
For larger groups, breaks shorter than 15 minutes rarely work out. Allowing 20 to 30 minutes gives everyone time to refuel, rest and regroup.
Family tracking link
Create a family tracking link with "Share my live location" in the ride panel and send it by WhatsApp or SMS. Your family opens it in a browser and follows your ride without installing an app.
The tracking page shows your live location, the route covered and still ahead, the next stop, your arrival estimate and the distance left. Your status reads riding, stopped, on a break, no signal or arrived. Instead of calling to ask where you are, your family can simply track your ride.
Your position is hidden around the route start, the destination and your first location of the ride, and the route line is cut there too. The privacy zone is 1 km by default; choose 500 m, 2 km or off when you share. You can hide your speed as well. The page shows your initials instead of your profile photo, and other riders never appear.
The link lasts up to 24 hours and closes 30 minutes after the ride ends. Stop sharing or renew the link at any time. If you send an SOS, a red alert appears on the tracking page.
CarPlay
Connect your phone to a CarPlay-enabled motorcycle display or car screen, and the ride map, your group’s live positions and turn-by-turn navigation move onto it. Riders who use CarPlay on a motorcycle follow motorcycle navigation on the bigger screen.
Clump runs on CarPlay as a motorcycle navigation app and sits alongside the map apps on the CarPlay home screen. The CarPlay navigation screen includes the group strip, so you can see who is ahead and who is behind without touching your phone.
Send quick messages, road reports and SOS from the CarPlay menu with one tap. If your own SOS is active, the first option in the menu is to cancel it. During a group break the display shows something like "Break · Departure 13:40 · 12 min", with an alert 5 minutes before it’s time to leave.
Voice prompts follow CarPlay’s audio preferences. If the car is playing other audio, nothing is spoken, but on-screen directions carry on.
Riding groups and clubs
Set up a group for your riding crew or club. Add a city, up to 3 tags and your group rules; the group’s rides show up on every member’s home screen.
The "Invite" button on the group page shows a large QR code or lets you share the invite link. In WhatsApp and iMessage the link previews with the group’s name, emblem and member count. An invite to the BMW Motorrad F-R Series GS Group, for example, shows the emblem along with "48 members · Istanbul" right in the chat.
Joining can be open or approval-based; with approval, admins and moderators handle requests. Add rules such as staggered formation, full gear or no alcohol. In Explore you can find motorcycle groups by city and interest and follow them without joining, which makes Clump a handy ride with friends app for finding new riding partners too.

Speed camera and average speed zone alerts
You hear a spoken alert as you approach a fixed speed camera, and inside an average-speed zone your average speed is tracked on screen. When the limit for that spot is known, it shows as a sign on the alert banner.
As you enter an average-speed zone the app alerts you and shows your average speed through the zone. If your average goes over the limit you get a reminder, so you can keep it under the limit to the end of the zone. Clump doesn’t detect any signal; alerts are based on known locations on the map and appear as their own layer on the motorcycle navigation app’s map.
The data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors’ open data and, for Türkiye, the electronic enforcement locations published by the General Directorate of Security. In some countries the feature is off for legal reasons or only gives zone information. Turn alerts on or off with "Fixed speed camera alerts" in Settings.
Please obey speed limits. Camera data may be incomplete, and in some countries this feature is off for legal reasons.
Clump is a motorcycle group ride app for anyone who rides with other people. A crew of three or four friends heading out for breakfast, a motorcycle club that runs a tour every month and a group setting off on a multi-day trip can all use the same app. For a small group, motorcycle navigation, the live map and the voice channel are often enough; as the group grows, the Captain and Sweep roles, group breaks and the "someone fell behind" alert matter more and more.
Solo riders benefit too. Voice navigation, the family tracking link and SOS are just as useful on your own: your family can follow you in a browser, and if something goes wrong you can alert the people you ride with and your family at the same time.
First you create a ride in the route planner: a start point, stops along the way and a destination. Give each stop a type and a dwell time, enter a departure time, and the planner works out when you’ll reach each stop. Then share the ride’s 6-character join code or QR code with your group. Your friends tap "Join Ride" in the Rides tab and enter the code.
When it’s time to go, start the ride. Everyone appears on the live group map, motorcycle navigation starts guiding you to the first stop and the voice channel opens. Location access needs to be set to "Always" so the group keeps seeing you with the phone in your pocket or the screen off.
A common rule for groups is to ride in a staggered formation within one lane: the rider in front keeps to one side of the lane and the rider behind keeps to the other. Leave at least 2 seconds to the rider directly ahead and 1 second to the rider beside you in the stagger. Switch to single file on bends and rough roads. The Captain leads, the Sweep stays at the back, and the group rides at the pace of its newest rider.
Before you set off, check that your helmet, gloves, armored jacket, trousers and boots are all there. Check tire pressure and tread depth, brakes, chain and lights. Make sure your phone mount is secure, your charging cable is with you and your intercom is charged. In cold or wet weather, pack an extra layer and rain gear.
Privacy and safety
Live location sharing only happens during a ride and only with the people you choose. You decide what the family tracking link shows and how long it stays open.
The family link doesn’t show the area around the route start, the destination or your first location of the ride, and the route line is cut there too. The tracking page doesn’t reveal where you live.
Every ride gets a new link that lasts at most 24 hours. You can stop sharing or renew the link whenever you like, and hide your speed if you prefer.
The tracking page talks only to clumpapp.com. It shows your initials instead of your profile photo, and other riders in the group never appear on it.
Clump is a group ride and navigation app for motorcycle riders. It shows your group on a live map, gives turn-by-turn voice navigation and lets riders talk on a shared voice channel through their helmet intercoms. Route planning, group breaks, a family tracking link, SOS and CarPlay support are all in the same app.
Not yet. Clump launches on iPhone first; Android is coming soon. The family tracking link opens in any phone’s browser, so your family doesn’t need an iPhone.
Yes. The live ride screen follows your planned route turn by turn and shows the next maneuver. Voice guidance has three modes: All, Alerts only (the default) and Off. In All mode you also hear maneuver prompts such as "In 300 meters, turn right".
Plan the route before you set off, mount the phone securely and turn on voice navigation. Clump reads the directions through your helmet intercom, so a quick glance is enough to check the next maneuver. Above roughly 10 km/h secondary actions are locked, and a CarPlay-enabled motorcycle display shows the map bigger.
Yes. The voice channel also works with Bluetooth headphones paired with the phone; a helmet intercom isn’t required. Audio goes from the phone to the group over mobile data. When talking isn’t possible, the rider can send a ready-made quick message with one tap.
Add break stops in the route planner and give each a dwell time; the planner works out when you arrive at and leave every stop. The break reminder flags stretches longer than 90, 120 or 150 minutes without a stop. During the ride, the group break starts on its own when most of the group reaches the break stop, and everyone sees the same countdown.
The spread strip on the live ride screen shows the front and back of the group on one line. When the gap between the first and last rider exceeds the threshold, the Captain and the Sweep get a "someone fell behind" alert. The threshold is 3 km by default and can be set between 0.5 and 20 km when planning the route.
With Clump’s voice channel. With your helmet intercom or headphones connected to your phone, you talk on the group’s channel using push to talk or an open mic. If talking is hard, you can send a ready-made quick message with one tap.
With SOS. Tap it and a 3-second countdown starts; then your location goes to everyone in the group as a high-priority notification and a spoken announcement. Family with your tracking link open see a red alert too. An SOS sent by mistake can be cancelled.
Create a link with "Share my live location" in the ride panel and send it by WhatsApp or SMS. Your family opens it in a browser and sees your location, arrival estimate and status (riding, on a break, arrived) live.
No. Your position is hidden around the route start, the destination and your first location of the ride, and the route line is cut there too. The privacy zone radius is 1 km by default; choose 500 m, 2 km or off when sharing.
Yes. CarPlay-enabled motorcycle displays and handlebar-mounted CarPlay screens show Clump once your iPhone is connected. It also works in CarPlay-enabled cars.
The Clump motorcycle navigation app launches on iPhone first, and the Android version is coming soon.
