A motorcycle SOS app that alerts your whole group with one tap
As a motorcycle SOS app, Clump gives your group ride four safety tools: SOS, quick messages, road reports and rain alerts. Each one works with a single tap from the ride panel and reaches everyone in the group at once.
SOS does not call emergency services; the alert goes to your group and your family link. Call your local emergency number if needed.
How does SOS work?
SOS works as emergency location sharing inside your group. Riders in the group see who needs help and where on the SOS card. Because the location is marked on the map, the nearest rider can turn back straight away.
- Tap SOS in the ride panel and a 3-second countdown starts. Tap "Cancel" during it to back out.
- When the countdown ends, your location goes to everyone in the group as a high-priority notification and a spoken announcement.
- Family members with your tracking link open see a red alert on the page.
- If you sent it by mistake, press and hold to cancel the SOS; the alert clears for everyone.
Quick messages: let the group know without talking
Talking inside a helmet isn’t always easy. Quick messages let you send a ready-made message with one tap: Need fuel, Break, Wait, Follow me or Hazard. Each one reaches everyone in the group as a card on screen and a spoken announcement.
Road reports: warn the riders behind you
When you spot a hazard, you can mark it as a road report. Report types are accident, roadworks, pothole, dangerous bend, debris and animal. Riders approaching the same spot are warned in advance.
Riders passing the spot are asked "Still there?". Each report clears on its own after a while, depending on its type, so stale warnings don’t pile up on the map.
Rain alerts on your route
During the ride Clump checks the weather on the next half hour of your route. If rain is likely there, you get an alert: "Put on rain gear at the next stop." That gives you time to pull over and get ready before the rain arrives.
What happens after an SOS is sent?
In the motorcycle SOS app, the SOS card shows everyone in the group who needs help and marks the location on the map. Because the voice channel is open, riders can talk to each other straight away. The nearest rider uses the location on the map to get back to the rider who sent the SOS.
The SOS also shows on the family tracking page. A red alert appears, and your SOS location is shown even if you are inside your privacy zone. Your family can open the location in their own maps app with one tap.
Once things are under control, or if the SOS was sent by mistake, cancel it and the alert clears for everyone. If you need emergency help, remember to call your local emergency number as well.
A safety check before you set off
A safe motorcycle group ride starts before anyone leaves. Helmet, gloves, armored jacket, trousers and boots should all be there, and tire pressure, tread depth, brakes, chain and lights should be checked. Make sure your phone mount is secure and your intercom is charged.
Part of that check is making sure everyone knows where the SOS button is and how to send a quick message. In cold or wet weather, packing an extra layer and rain gear means you’re ready when a rain alert comes up on the route.
Who is the motorcycle SOS app for?
A motorcycle SOS app only works if everyone uses it. Because the whole group is on the same ride, an alert from the motorcycle SOS app in Clump reaches everyone at once.
For every rider who heads out on long group rides, rides remote mountain roads or rides at night, these tools let the group reach each other fast. SOS is for stopping the group after a fall or a breakdown; quick messages and road reports handle the small things on an everyday ride.
SOS is sent by hand. Clump doesn’t notice falls or impacts by itself, so it’s worth making sure everyone in the group knows where the SOS button is before you set off.
Frequently asked questions
How do I alert my group in an emergency while riding?
With SOS. Tap it and a 3-second countdown starts; then your location goes to everyone in the group as a high-priority notification and a spoken announcement. Family with your tracking link open see a red alert too. An SOS sent by mistake can be cancelled.
How do I cancel an SOS sent by mistake?
During the 3-second countdown before sending, tap "Cancel" to back out. After the SOS is sent, press and hold the button to cancel it, and the alert clears for everyone. If you’re connected to CarPlay, the first option in the menu is to cancel your own SOS.
Does SOS contact emergency services?
No. SOS only goes to your group and your family link; it doesn’t call emergency services. Call your local emergency number separately if needed.
Which quick messages are there?
The ready-made quick messages are Need fuel, Break, Wait, Follow me and Hazard. Each one is sent with one tap and reaches everyone in the group as a card and a spoken announcement. You can send the same messages from the CarPlay display.
Which road reports can I send?
Accident, roadworks, pothole, dangerous bend, debris and animal. Riders approaching the spot are warned. Riders passing it are asked "Still there?", and each report clears on its own after a while depending on its type.
How do rain alerts work?
During the ride the weather on the next half hour of your route is checked. If rain is likely, you get a "Put on rain gear at the next stop." alert. The route plan also shows the weather along the route.
