General

What is Clump?

Clump is a group ride and navigation app for motorcycle riders. It shows your group on a live map, gives turn-by-turn voice navigation and lets riders talk on a shared voice channel through their helmet intercoms. Route planning, group breaks, a family tracking link, SOS and CarPlay support are all in the same app.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Clump launches on iPhone first; Android is coming soon. The family tracking link opens in any phone’s browser, so your family doesn’t need an iPhone.

Which languages does the app support?

Clump is available in English and Turkish. Voice navigation prompts and alerts are spoken in the app’s language too.

Live ride, navigation and roles

What happens if I leave the route?

The app announces "You left the route. Guiding you back." and calculates a way back to your planned route. Once you rejoin it you hear "You are back on the route." and navigation carries on from there.

What does a sweep rider do on a group ride?

The sweep rider stays at the back, keeps the group together and sees how far behind the last rider is. The Captain leads at the front and sets the pace. The ride owner assigns both roles, and a handover only happens when the other rider accepts.

How do I hand over the Captain or Sweep role?

Open the menu on a rider’s row in the ride panel and choose "Make Captain" or "Make Sweep". The rider gets a notification and a spoken prompt. If they accept, the role passes to them; if they decline, nothing changes.

How do you notice a rider left behind on a group ride?

The spread strip on the live ride screen shows the front and back of the group on one line. When the gap between the first and last rider exceeds the threshold, the Captain and the Sweep get a "someone fell behind" alert. The threshold is 3 km by default and can be set between 0.5 and 20 km when planning the route.

What happens if the ride owner loses connection?

After 3 minutes without a connection, ride authority passes temporarily to an online Captain, or to the Sweep if there is no Captain. The stand-in can skip stops, start a break and finish the ride. When the owner reconnects, authority returns to them immediately.

How does everyone leave a group break on time?

Whoever has ride authority starts a timed group break. Everyone sees the departure time and countdown on the phone, the Lock Screen and CarPlay. A reminder arrives 5 minutes before departure, and a "Time to go" announcement plays when the time is up.

How long can a group break last?

Anything from 5 minutes to 4 hours; the presets are 10, 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. The person in charge can extend it by 5 or 15 minutes or end it early. If the time runs over, the screen shows "Time to go has passed".

Can a group break start automatically?

Yes, at a planned break stop: once most of the group arrives, the break starts on its own and can be cancelled in the first 20 seconds. At an unplanned stop the break never starts by itself; after 5 minutes the person in charge only gets a "Take a break?" suggestion.

What is a sweep rider?

The sweep rider is the rider who stays at the very back of a group ride and makes sure nobody is left behind. In Clump, the Sweep sees on their own screen how far back the last rider is. When someone drops back, the "someone fell behind" alert goes to the Sweep as well.

Who can start a group break?

Whoever has ride authority, which is normally the ride owner. If the owner loses connection for 3 minutes, authority passes temporarily to an online Captain, or to the Sweep if there is no Captain, and the stand-in can start a break too. Everyone else sees the countdown and gets the reminders.

Do riders get a reminder before the break ends?

Yes. Everyone in the group gets a reminder 5 minutes before the departure time. When the time is up, a "Time to go" announcement plays. Riders connected to CarPlay see these alerts on the display too.

Voice channel and safety

Can a rider without an intercom talk to the group?

Yes. The voice channel also works with Bluetooth headphones paired with the phone; a helmet intercom isn’t required. Audio goes from the phone to the group over mobile data. When talking isn’t possible, the rider can send a ready-made quick message with one tap.

How do you do a motorcycle voice group ride?

Join a ride in Clump and pair your helmet intercom or headphones with your phone over Bluetooth. As soon as another rider in the group is online, the voice room opens by itself; it does not connect while you are alone. You talk with push to talk or an open mic. Leave with "Leave voice call" in the ride panel and come back with "Join voice call".

How do motorcycle riders communicate in a group?

With Clump’s voice channel. With your helmet intercom or headphones connected to your phone, you talk on the group’s channel using push to talk or an open mic. If talking is hard, you can send a ready-made quick message with one tap.

Can riders with different intercom brands talk to each other?

Yes. Audio goes through each phone to the group’s voice channel, so the brand of intercom or headphones paired with the phone doesn’t matter. Mobile data is required.

What is the difference between push to talk and open mic?

With an open mic the group hears you as soon as you speak, and you mute when you want. With push to talk your voice only goes out while you hold the button. In large groups, push to talk keeps the channel calmer.

Do the voice channel and live map need internet?

Yes. Location sharing and the voice channel run on mobile data. Where there is no coverage, audio pauses and your location stops updating; both resume when you are back in coverage.

How do I alert my group in an emergency while riding?

With SOS. Tap it and a 3-second countdown starts; then your location goes to everyone in the group as a high-priority notification and a spoken announcement. Family with your tracking link open see a red alert too. An SOS sent by mistake can be cancelled.

Does SOS contact emergency services?

No. SOS only goes to your group and your family link; it doesn’t call emergency services. Call your local emergency number separately if needed.

Which road reports can I send?

Accident, roadworks, pothole, dangerous bend, debris and animal. Riders approaching the spot are warned. Riders passing it are asked "Still there?", and each report clears on its own after a while depending on its type.

Which quick messages are there?

The ready-made quick messages are Need fuel, Break, Wait, Follow me and Hazard. Each one is sent with one tap and reaches everyone in the group as a card and a spoken announcement. You can send the same messages from the CarPlay display.

How do I cancel an SOS sent by mistake?

During the 3-second countdown before sending, tap "Cancel" to back out. After the SOS is sent, press and hold the button to cancel it, and the alert clears for everyone. If you’re connected to CarPlay, the first option in the menu is to cancel your own SOS.

Family tracking link

How can my family track me while I ride?

Create a link with "Share my live location" in the ride panel and send it by WhatsApp or SMS. Your family opens it in a browser and sees your location, arrival estimate and status (riding, on a break, arrived) live.

Does my family need to install an app to see my location?

No. The link opens in the browser on any phone or computer. Your family doesn’t need an account or an app.

Does the tracking link show where I live?

No. Your position is hidden around the route start, the destination and your first location of the ride, and the route line is cut there too. The privacy zone radius is 1 km by default; choose 500 m, 2 km or off when sharing.

Can I hide my speed on the tracking page?

Yes. When you share the link you can choose not to show your speed. Your family still sees your location, status and arrival estimate; only the speed is hidden.

What does my family see if I lose signal?

The tracking page shows your status as "no signal" along with the last update time. When the connection returns, your location starts updating again. Your family can tell you are simply passing through an area without coverage.

Route planning and groups

How do you plan breaks on a motorcycle trip?

Add break stops in the route planner and give each a dwell time; the planner works out when you arrive at and leave every stop. The break reminder flags stretches longer than 90, 120 or 150 minutes without a stop. During the ride, the group break starts on its own when most of the group reaches the break stop, and everyone sees the same countdown.

How do I plan fuel stops for a group motorcycle trip?

Enter your group’s shortest fuel range in the route planner; the default is 180 km. If a section without a fuel stop is longer than 0.9 times that range, you get a warning. Tap a fuel suggestion along the route to add it as a stop.

How do I plan a curvy motorcycle route?

Set the route style to "Curvy" in the route planner. The planner then favors the twistiest of the routes it finds. You can also switch on avoiding toll roads and motorways.

How are arrival times worked out for a group?

The planner applies a pace factor to the map’s travel time. Relaxed multiplies it by 1.30 and Normal by 1.15, while Fast uses the map time as it is. Dwell times at each stop are added on top.

How do rain alerts work?

During the ride the weather on the next half hour of your route is checked. If rain is likely, you get a "Put on rain gear at the next stop." alert. The route plan also shows the weather along the route.

How do I invite people to my group?

Tap "Invite" on the group page to show a QR code or share the invite link. In chats the link previews with the group’s name, emblem and member count. Anyone with Clump installed goes straight to the join screen.

How do I find motorcycle groups near me?

Open Explore and browse motorcycle groups and clubs by city and interest. Follow a group without joining to see its public rides and hear about new ones.

How do I set group notifications?

Choose Notifications from the group page menu: All, Rides only or Off. Approval, role and membership notifications always come through. SOS and ride notifications need notification permission turned on for the app.

Can I skip a stop during the ride?

Yes. The ride owner or their stand-in can skip a planned stop for everyone. Guidance moves on to the next stop for all riders at once, and the group hears an announcement. A stop skipped by mistake can be restored.

Can I require approval to join my group?

Yes. When you create the group, or later, choose open or approval-based joining. With approval, requests go to admins and moderators. They can approve them one by one or all at once with "Approve all".

What roles are there in a riding group?

Groups have admin, moderator and member roles. Admins and moderators approve join requests and manage members. These group roles are separate from the Captain and Sweep roles used during a ride.

Device, cameras and CarPlay

Does Clump work with Apple CarPlay?

Yes. The ride map, your group’s live positions and turn-by-turn navigation appear on the CarPlay display. You can send quick messages, road reports and SOS from there with one tap, and the group break countdown shows on the display too.

Can CarPlay be used on a motorcycle?

Yes. CarPlay-enabled motorcycle displays and handlebar-mounted CarPlay screens show Clump once your iPhone is connected. It also works in CarPlay-enabled cars.

Do speed camera alerts work in every country?

No. The feature is off in some countries for legal reasons, and in others only average-speed zone information is given. The data may be incomplete. Please always obey speed limits and road signs.

Where does the camera data come from?

From OpenStreetMap contributors’ open data and, for Türkiye, the electronic enforcement locations published by the General Directorate of Security. The data may be incomplete or out of date; no alert does not mean there is no enforcement.

What are average-speed zone alerts for?

In an average-speed zone your average speed between two points is measured. Clump alerts you as you enter the zone, shows your average speed through it and reminds you if your average goes over the limit. That makes it easier to keep your speed under the limit for the whole zone.

Why does the app need "Always" location access?

So the group can see you, navigation keeps working and the family link updates while the phone is in your pocket or the screen is off. With "While Using the App", your location stops updating when the screen turns off. You can check it in the Location row in the app’s Settings.

Does Clump drain the battery?

Live location sharing, navigation and the voice channel together use battery. On long rides we recommend keeping the phone charging. The family tracking page also shows your battery level, so your family knows if it is running low.

How do I turn speed camera alerts on or off?

Switch "Fixed speed camera alerts" on or off in the app’s Settings. When it is on, alerts appear on the map and are spoken during the ride, and they show on the CarPlay map too. Please always obey speed limits.

Does voice navigation work on CarPlay?

Yes. Voice navigation prompts are spoken while you are connected to CarPlay and follow CarPlay’s audio preferences. If prompts are off or the car is playing other audio, nothing is spoken, but on-screen guidance carries on.

Does Clump detect speed camera signals?

No. Clump doesn’t detect any signal; alerts are based on known fixed camera and average-speed zone locations on the map. The locations come from OpenStreetMap open data and, for Türkiye, the list published by the General Directorate of Security. Please always obey speed limits.

How do I open Clump on CarPlay?

Connect your iPhone to a CarPlay-enabled display and tap the Clump icon on the CarPlay home screen. When you start the ride on your phone, the map, your group’s positions and navigation move to the display. Use the CarPlay menu for quick messages, road reports and SOS.
